About
Alex Potsides is a 26 year old techy type living in South London.
He has recently finished a BSc in Computer Science at Goldsmith's College, University of London and is currently working in West London.
Previous to reading his degree he worked in several full time roles, including web development and systems administration. During his time at college, Alex worked as a freelance web developer, working on a large number of websites and beack end systems, including intranets, asset management, CMS, CRM and other interesting acronyms.
Alex has been speaking the lingua franca of the web for over six years and his skills include not only the Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP quadrinity, but also Flash, Java, XML, Postgres, JavaScript, AJAX and a teensy bit of Oracle. He often tries to rationalise the world from the point of view of OO programming and is interested in user interaction and data mining.
Alex is geeky enough to run Gentoo Linux on his ThinkPad, although he has fond memories of owning a PowerBook. He is as at home with CLIs as he is with GUIs and prefers nano to vi as he doesn't enjoy torturing himself.
Alex is a keen snowboarder, has recently taken up mountainbiking and has been talked into cycling to Brighton for charity at some point over the summer. Alex occasionally codes to relax and has several projects on the go.
Please contact him if there is anything else you wish to know.
