Alex likes being outdoors, unless it involves camping. He's a keen snowboarder who tries to get to the mountains a couple of times a year. He's getting better at riding park and doing flatland tricks, although 540s are still eluding him. A few years ago a friend persuaded him to start cycling to work, and he's since taken up mountain biking which he would like to do more often.

He's a tinkerer and loves creating new things out of otherwise useless or obsoleted kit. His greatest triumph to date has been a movie projector made from a TFT monitor and an overhead projector. His soldering skills leave a lot to be desired, however and he normally has to talk other people into doing that for him.

Alex listens to a lot of music and has played bass guitar in several bands. He also likes to read, but wishes he had more time to do so.
